Using TVs in the Church
To aid in Gospel learning there is 1 Touchscreen TV, 2 mounted TVs, 1 TV on a cart, and small portal 2 TVs in the building. To help you better utilize them here is some information on each of them.
Newline Touchscreen TV
Brand new we have a 75″ Newline Touchscreen TV on a Cart in the Relief Society Room. In the future this TV will be mounted in the center of the room but in the meantime it is on a cart. The Touchscreen TV is stored in the Meetinghouse Materials Center. The first Ward in the Building is responsible for moving It to the Relief Society Room and the last Ward in the Building is responsible for moving it back into the Meetinghouse Materials Center.
This Touchscreen TV has whiteboard functions, Gospel Library, FamilySearch, Sacred Music, and various other Apps already installed. This basically operates as a 75″ tablet and you can use it operate so everyone can see exactly what you doing. It is already on WiFi and you can display and control content on it. It also operates as a Whiteboard.
While you can Mirror, Cast, and/or Plug In to the Touchscreen TV from various devices it is designed so you can simply sign into the App on the Touchscreen TV and show it right on the TV.
You can also create a QR code right from Gospel Library so that members of the class can scan and get right to where you are.
Watch February 2023 Touchscreen TV training video. This video is designed for you to be in front of the TV and watching the video, pausing the video, and doing the training on the Newline Touchscreen TV.
Relief Society and Primary Room TVs
A common question asked is how to connect show content on the mounted TVs in the Primary and Relief Society Rooms. On the pulpit and mounted next to the TVs are directions on how to connect from iOS and macOS devices. (If you are using Windows or Android you will need to plug in using HDMI as wireless display is not currently supported by the Ward and Stake Technology Specialists on Windows and Android devices.) Please review these and directions.
Ensure that you are connected to Church WiFi and that you have accepted the WiFi Terms of Use.
Note that these are the most commonly skipped steps. You need to be on Church WiFi and you need to accept the WiFi Terms of Use. If you are on the Church WiFi but you can’t mirror you likely have not accepted the terms of use. Open your web browser and visit GuestWirelessTermsofUse.ChurchofJesusChrist.org and then try again.
For best results please download any video content you want to show instead of trying to stream.
Mobile TVs
In addition to the Touchscreen TV and the mounted TVs in the Primary and Relief Society Room there is 1 larger TV on a cart and 2 smaller TVs in a bag located in the Meetinghouse Material Center. The larger TV on a cart can also be wireless streamed from iOS and macOS devices. All 3 can be plugged into by a variety of products.
For best results please download any video content you want to show instead of trying to stream.
Projector
In the Meetinghouse Material Center there is a projector. Typically the best place to use this at is in the Chapel. There is an electric roll down projector screen behind the choir seats. Please note that the use of Audio & Video during Sacrament Meeting is prohibited by Church Policy.
The projector can accept HDMI or VGA. It does have speakers however if you are showing something with audio ideally you should connect from the projector into audio in so that the audio plays throughout the chapel / room instead of just at the projector.
Broadcast / Streaming from the Building
Currently Sacrament Meeting is streamed each Sunday. No other meetings are regularly streamed but if you have a special need please discuss with your Ward Organizational President who will discuss it to Ward Council. If your meeting is approved by the Bishop to stream the Ward Technology Specialist(s) can assist in the Stream. Read Church Handbook Section 29.7 for streaming meetings and Section 38.2.3 for streaming ordinances.
Watch Broadcast / Streams in the Building
The Church has a number streams that can be watched in the building. Visit the Church Streaming Page for a list of Church Broadcasts. In the IT closet (located next to the Clerks’ office on the north side of the building) there is an HDMI input that will display the stream throughout the building on the TV in the Relief Society Room (change input to HDMI 1), on the TV in the Primary room (plug HDMI cable into HDMI jack on the south watch), in the chapel by plugging into the HDMI out jack on the pulpit, and in the Cultural Hall by plugging into the HDMI jack on the south wall. One of the Ward Technology Specialists keeps an Apple TV in the IT closet that can be plugged in to allow for streaming throughout the building.
