Temple and Family History
Ward Temple Night – the next ward temple day/night will be on September 29, at 1pm or 7pm. We look forward to the opening of the St. George Temple in December, so this will be our ward family’s last opportunity to attend the Cedar City Temple together. The first opportunity to reserve a time for an appointment is July 1. Remember to take a family name to do the ordinances. If you need help getting a family name, contact Brother or Sister Hartman.
President Nelson said, “Heavenly Father has sent His children to earth for more than six millennia. Most of those people have not yet received the ordinances that would qualify them for eternal life. That is why temples are so significant. That is why the gathering of Israel on both sides of the veil is the most important cause on earth today.” — President Russell M. Nelson
Reservations can be made to attend the ward temple day/evening sessions now for Sept 29. Spaces are limited.

If you would like to write a “thought of the week” please send it to Michael Cox early in the week or post it in the Gospel Living app. Read the Thought of the Week.

Thought of the Week
by Michael Cox
This week for “Come, Follow Me” we read 2nd Corinthians 8-13.
One verse that really spoke to me was 2nd Corinthians 8:9.
“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”
Our Savior Jesus Christ, the creator of the heavens and the earth and all things in them, left His heavenly home and came to earth as a helpless baby, completely dependent on His earthly mother Mary as well as Joseph. Growing up in a carpenter’s house He would have worked hard and likely helped support His mortal family. Once the time came for Him to begin His mortal ministry, He left all and, at least for a time, it appears that the Heavenly King was homeless.
“And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” (Matthew 8:20)
Why did Jesus give up so much? He did it for you and I. He did it because He wants us to become “rich” and have all that His Father has, so that we can be “heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ… that we may be also glorified together” (Romans 8:17) and all that He asks to give us everything is “believeth in Him” and that if we believe we “should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).
What a wonderful gift from our Heavenly Father and our elder brother Jesus Christ. Jesus gave up everything for us. He asks us to “give away all [our] sins to know [Him]” (Alma 22:18) and to follow Him. His “grace is sufficient for [us]” (2 Corinthians 12:9, see also Ether 12:27), and I hope each of us will try each day to follow His perfect example.
